Long Weekend, I'm Tired

Playing with some fabric today helped rejuvenate me a little. These are flannel blocks from a kitty swap with the AboutQuilting forum members(many years ago).
Not sure about a border. Maybe some paper-pieced mousies all around? Don't want to be too complicated or it won't ever get finished. Maybe a plain border with a mouse in each corner.

Was hoping to get tree up and the multi-color lights strung on branches. Well, at least the tree is up. This is an old tree with fiber-optic strands in branches. It is so lovely, I still like its' sparkly look.It had white lights but they stopped working so we pulled them off. Every year I'm happy the fiber-optic part still works :)

Gonna get the kitchen painted after first of next year. Still testing paint colors, I want a yellow, like sunflowers. Maybe with a touch of gold. That's a hard color to find.

Working on Jars

New header- Smudgie inspecting my string quilt while marking borders for quilting. This was at our house in town, Smudgie was four yrs then, now she's an older kitty at age nine. Smudgie was found dumped with her momma and litter of five at a stable in Florida. Momma cat was killed before the box of kittens was found. All the kittens survived by being bottle fed.
She sneaks into den if door is left open, loves the computer chair.
AboutQuilting has a jar swap going on. I need to get working on my blocks. Last day to mail is Feb. 28th. This is my test block, I will sew five more to have a set of six for swapping. We decided to leave the bottom strip off the jar so they could be sitting on a shelf instead of floating.
Below photo- my other jar fabrics. Pickled eggs, corn, peppers and colorful candies. Maybe won't use peppers cuz someone else made pepper jars. We are swapping in sets of six so if I swap butterflys and three more sets there will be plenty of jars for a cute wall hanging. Wasn't gonna swap this year but cannot resist jars and novelty fabrics.

(((sigh)))

Jan Blues Swap & Where Have I been?

Not really busy but enough to keep me off the computer. I've joined a few BOM's (Block of the Month) and have sewn on one of those.... more later on that subject.

Just short of Jan but will share some kitty blocks swapped a few years ago. Theme was Jan Blues and lots of quilters participated. I really need to get these into a finished quilt since they are so pretty.

Woven Diamond Quilt Photo

As I go thru files and find my quilt photos they will be posted on this blog/journal. Here is a photo thought to be lost. It is a top from swapping paper pieced blocks (late summer '09). Actually, most of these blocks I made after the swap because I liked the look of novelty prints in the diamonds. The top just needs the white border finished, not sure if another border strip will be added. The novelty fabrics are fun to look at, like an eye spy quilt. Will 'probly keep this for myself because it has a lot of favorite old scraps from my stash.
