When you see the table of the ones who have not returned, this is what it means. Please take a moment to respect those it represents.
•The Cloth is White- symbolizing the purity of their motives when answering the call to serve.
•The Single Red Rose- reminds us of the lives of these Americans, and their loved ones and friends who keep the faith, while seeking answers.
•The Yellow Ribbon- symbolizes our continued determination to account for them.
•A Slice of Lemon- reminds us of the bitter fate of those captured and missing in a foreign land.
•A Pinch of Salt- symbolizes the tears of our missing and their families who long for answers after decades of uncertainty.
•The Lighted Candle- reflects our hope for their return- Alive or Dead
•The Bible- represents the strength gained through faith in our country, Founded as One Nation Under God, to sustain those lost from our midst.
The Glass is Inverted- to symbolize their inability to share a toast.
•The Chair is Empty- They Are Missing.

Our backyard was finally landscaped last fall. I transplanted some wild cactus in a center planter. They made it thru winter and bloomed this spring.
This double was growing in the front horse field.

Over the years I have learned to embrace the desert. There <i>is<b></b></i> beauty in an arid region.

My laptop crashed, DH fixed it but it changed too. Hard to find photos to post here (or anywhere else for that matter).
I'll try to post some pics of my Tiny Houses from trading with a group on Face Book. The group is still trading, new people always joining so it could go on for a long while.
These are houses I traded to others.

These are two I mostly traded. Two fit in a biz size envelope with one stamp. I must have constructed a hundred and became tired if the fabrics ! But two different house were traded back to me so it was worth it.
Blue and orange TH was to represent my state, Arizona (fabric is Sedona Sunset by Connecting Threads). The "candy" TH was a fun print found on eBay, everyone liked it.

This is fall to me, when wild AZ Sunflowers come up in late September.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-838cY9l6nUI/XaUQ18_x8iI/AAAAAAAAFik/JoYNfMqUsxMO9hFI8tH-lEzLw5ocX81GQCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/2019-10%2BAZ%2BFall%2BWild%2BSunflowers.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1173" data-original-width="1592" height="470" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-838cY9l6nUI/XaUQ18_x8iI/AAAAAAAAFik/JoYNfMqUsxMO9hFI8tH-lEzLw5ocX81GQCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/2019-10%2BAZ%2BFall%2BWild%2BSunflowers.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Fence lines on north property have AZ Sunflowers all along, up past barn. Equines are not interested in eating wildflowers. Poppet is interested in whatever bugs are crawling about. You can see how bright this AZ sun is today.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CGA0Nf1Sj4A/XaUQ7vj5ssI/AAAAAAAAFio/Qo17nTLSteoY-6ZKoSS5mONJTCd10IPSwCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/AZ%2Bwildflowers%2B%2526%2BPoppet%2B2019-10.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1340" data-original-width="1033" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CGA0Nf1Sj4A/XaUQ7vj5ssI/AAAAAAAAFio/Qo17nTLSteoY-6ZKoSS5mONJTCd10IPSwCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/AZ%2Bwildflowers%2B%2526%2BPoppet%2B2019-10.JPG" width="492" /></a></div>
<br />
Inside my little side yard, out the window of quilting room. I let it go after a devastating microburst. High wind and heavy rain turned into dime and quarter sized hail. Left it all in tatters. Some plants were spared by the mulberry tree. That tree had everyone of its leaves shredded. Much of the fig was spared along with a little apple tree and weeping pine. Trumpet vine lost leaves inside the yard, it was untouched on outside. Hail was coming down sideways.<br />
<br />

Our barren backyard during storm. We have tried to grow trees and such back there but it's like the ground is poisoned. That and 100 year freezes or flying masses of leaf eating bugs. <br />

I'll post some summer "highlights".<br />
<br />
My quilting room is a converted covered porch, finished not that many years ago. This year the roof leaked. It's all repaired now after waiting three months for a trusted company to fix. Their waiting list had 80 roof repairs ahead of us. Owner worked us in when he saw all my fabrics and quilting machine in danger. The ceiling had bulged right in the middle from water weight.<br />
.....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kMINkHLroh8/XZltWMbS2BI/AAAAAAAAFgw/iAQP4Nbdzk44QEbHuVFBhzDh7JQcEBbngCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/roof%2Bleak%2Bin%2Bquilting%2Broom%2B%2528blue%2Btarp%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1309" data-original-width="1600" height="522" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kMINkHLroh8/XZltWMbS2BI/AAAAAAAAFgw/iAQP4Nbdzk44QEbHuVFBhzDh7JQcEBbngCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/roof%2Bleak%2Bin%2Bquilting%2Broom%2B%2528blue%2Btarp%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
LOL (gotta laugh or I could cry every time I look). I had pulled and stacked fabrics everywhere for the Gypsy Wife quilt. Now it all needs back on shelving. Rain is gone for the season but I've been afraid to remove the tarp. I'm sure its been fixed up right, they showed us the old inferior materials and all new materials to replace. It's just so much to do in there but husband is going to help.<br />
<br />
My health has been a roller-coaster ride for the last several months. Trying new meds for the fibro and nerve pain, experimenting with dosages, new doctors and clinic. Depression. Sleeping too much. I've mostly been caring for our poodles, the horses and mule. But not complaining about that !<br />
These guys... crack me up, keep me going.<br />

</div>
Today I'm throwing up (ha ha) all my completed Gypsy Wife photos. I'm behind the FB group sew-along but pleased with what I've accomplished so far. <br />
My arm was sore from cutting strips, two fabrics at a time. These are just a few so far. Steam and heavy starch are your friends in this endeavour. Lots of rotary blades too. <a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JMxGOmWeID0/XPteHhgsgPI/AAAAAAAAFeU/5Ul8vxrYD7kB3Ueu2iSQpvIF5vYb9HG_gCLcBGAs/s1600/My%2BGypsy%2BWife%2BStrip%2Bcutting%252C%2Bneed%2B20%2Bmore%2Bfabrics%2B%2528cut%2Bthree%2Bof%2Beach%2529..JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="360" data-original-width="640" height="360" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JMxGOmWeID0/XPteHhgsgPI/AAAAAAAAFeU/5Ul8vxrYD7kB3Ueu2iSQpvIF5vYb9HG_gCLcBGAs/s640/My%2BGypsy%2BWife%2BStrip%2Bcutting%252C%2Bneed%2B20%2Bmore%2Bfabrics%2B%2528cut%2Bthree%2Bof%2Beach%2529..JPG" width="640" /></a><br />
I'm sewing two quilts at once, one for my sister and one for me. I cannot imagine cutting one quilt at a time, considering all the deciding and measuring that goes into a Gypsy Wife quilt. As others have said, this is an exercise in precise sewing ! Better get your 1/4" down !<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-m4OcmjV1Ngc/XPteNvTaL-I/AAAAAAAAFeY/jl5reSQYLz8fCjQSL4cuYCzaGF44CXfeACLcBGAs/s1600/Gypsy%2BWife%2Bstrip%2Bcutting%252C%2Bneed%2Btotal%2Bof%2B180%2Bstrips..JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="612" data-original-width="640" height="612" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-m4OcmjV1Ngc/XPteNvTaL-I/AAAAAAAAFeY/jl5reSQYLz8fCjQSL4cuYCzaGF44CXfeACLcBGAs/s640/Gypsy%2BWife%2Bstrip%2Bcutting%252C%2Bneed%2Btotal%2Bof%2B180%2Bstrips..JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
I wasn't looking for a lot of contrast in my quilt. Strips below are about half the number needed. I'll mix in some deeper colored strips later on.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9yJuTGdJUMk/XPteWvrTskI/AAAAAAAAFeg/O1lT9oONu04QXM8pSWA13CimGK_ulZklgCLcBGAs/s1600/My%2BGypsy%2BWife%2BStrips%2Bcut%2Bso%2Bfar.%2B%2BLight%2Bwas%2Bbrighter%2Bon%2Bleft%252C%2Bfrom%2Bsun.%2BNeeds%2Bsome%2Bred%2Band%2Banother%2Bpink%252C%2Bwhat%2Belse...%2Bgypsy%2Bwife%2Bq.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="393" data-original-width="640" height="392" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9yJuTGdJUMk/XPteWvrTskI/AAAAAAAAFeg/O1lT9oONu04QXM8pSWA13CimGK_ulZklgCLcBGAs/s640/My%2BGypsy%2BWife%2BStrips%2Bcut%2Bso%2Bfar.%2B%2BLight%2Bwas%2Bbrighter%2Bon%2Bleft%252C%2Bfrom%2Bsun.%2BNeeds%2Bsome%2Bred%2Band%2Banother%2Bpink%252C%2Bwhat%2Belse...%2Bgypsy%2Bwife%2Bq.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Some blocks I changed up like these, supposed to be square in a square but didn't want to loose butterfly wings. Little changes make the quilt my own.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6PVY-Fdon7w/XPtedsu3ZII/AAAAAAAAFeo/ZWCKwRGHD3Qph-r_Psg8tHD6PuXyunwmQCLcBGAs/s1600/%2528My%2BGypsy%2BWife%2529%2Bsupposed%2Bto%2Bbe%2Bsqare%2Bin%2Ba%2Bsquare%2Bbut%2Bthe%2Bb-fly%2Bscraps%2Bwould%2Bnot%2Bwork%2Bso%2Bmade%2Bsnowball%2Bblocks%2B%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="360" data-original-width="640" height="360" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6PVY-Fdon7w/XPtedsu3ZII/AAAAAAAAFeo/ZWCKwRGHD3Qph-r_Psg8tHD6PuXyunwmQCLcBGAs/s640/%2528My%2BGypsy%2BWife%2529%2Bsupposed%2Bto%2Bbe%2Bsqare%2Bin%2Ba%2Bsquare%2Bbut%2Bthe%2Bb-fly%2Bscraps%2Bwould%2Bnot%2Bwork%2Bso%2Bmade%2Bsnowball%2Bblocks%2B%25282%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Lots of novelty scraps are being put into use. I did paper piece the little two inch blocks, easier for me that way. (The FB group doesn't allow paper piecing but I won't tell on myself). There are several other very difficult blocks I'll paper piece, I found free patterns on Pinterest so why not ?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JRh09dwGEP0/XPtehacdvTI/AAAAAAAAFes/-HD8htJ_nLEGzU7unldq8B0pv-FLjmeMgCLcBGAs/s1600/my%2BGypsy%2BWife-%2Bmore%2Bblocks.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="360" data-original-width="640" height="360" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JRh09dwGEP0/XPtehacdvTI/AAAAAAAAFes/-HD8htJ_nLEGzU7unldq8B0pv-FLjmeMgCLcBGAs/s640/my%2BGypsy%2BWife-%2Bmore%2Bblocks.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
There's about a gazillion more of these 2" filler blocks to make. But it's fun choosing fabrics for them. I have learned to not be picky, just choose and sew. O n e a t a t i m e.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yiRR3BbkkXM/XPtelmr079I/AAAAAAAAFew/vmx-l4IEL8kFrGGp2qvZdmJ3Qf2swXKYQCLcBGAs/s1600/My%2BGypsy%2BWife%2Bsq%2Bin%2Bsq%2Bnovelties.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="360" data-original-width="640" height="360" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yiRR3BbkkXM/XPtelmr079I/AAAAAAAAFew/vmx-l4IEL8kFrGGp2qvZdmJ3Qf2swXKYQCLcBGAs/s640/My%2BGypsy%2BWife%2Bsq%2Bin%2Bsq%2Bnovelties.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
HST (8") block using the same print and mixed with black/grey/white for interest. So many different colors and combinations you could choose, it was hard deciding. Lots of ideas on the net.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Vz5I8iOj3dc/XPteuRsf8bI/AAAAAAAAFe8/85EhaOBgX2kmw2s191P_jkzs_KMYu5OhQCLcBGAs/s1600/2nd%2Bgypsy%2Bwife%2B%2528my%2Bblock%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="411" data-original-width="640" height="410" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Vz5I8iOj3dc/XPteuRsf8bI/AAAAAAAAFe8/85EhaOBgX2kmw2s191P_jkzs_KMYu5OhQCLcBGAs/s640/2nd%2Bgypsy%2Bwife%2B%2528my%2Bblock%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The FB sew-along is going by sections each month but I decided to complete all my blocks first. No, I don't know why, LOL.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Gotta keep slogging away, I'm too far along with this quilt to quit and would be disappointed in myself if I did.</div>

Clear skies at last but still very cold in these pics. Dreamer was excited to be out of his stall and paddock. Silly goose ran up and down the horse lane, past Taxi several times. Taxi is watching his dad put hay out front.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Freezing cold, I was standing on back porch taking the pics. Mustang Mountain was snow covered for about the third time in our seventeen years out here.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-plW0xCYNVPU/XHdjyGAPGbI/AAAAAAAAFac/uhhze8z1mMQk0sKQz5DpQdzPK_ThsFfwQCLcBGAs/s1600/from%2Bback%2Bporch%252C%2BMustang%2BMountain%252C%2Bsnow.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="360" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-plW0xCYNVPU/XHdjyGAPGbI/AAAAAAAAFac/uhhze8z1mMQk0sKQz5DpQdzPK_ThsFfwQCLcBGAs/s640/from%2Bback%2Bporch%252C%2BMustang%2BMountain%252C%2Bsnow.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>

<br />
I was able to cook a hot meal for hubby. Chicken fried steaks, mashed potatoes and italian beans.<br />

The Gypsy Wife quilt is messy (no its not me). I'm using the Hello Kitty to mark stacks of papers for the PP blocks.<br />

<br />
Sewing blocks on the Rocketeer. I ordered clear presser feet for both machines but forgot the accessory arm to hold the foot on my Rocketeer. Now waiting for that to arrive next week. The clear foot for Hello Kitty also fits my Featherweight machine. Would love to pull that one out to use but it needs oiling first (I've never done that before).<br />

Gypsy Wife Quilt Along 2019 on FB is now secret and not accepting new members. Since announced over 2,800 have joined. There's lots'a information and help on the internet if one just googles. Several blogs have been a great help to me. If anyone wants to make this quilt, go ahead and have fun !<br />

Cochise County doesn't have a snow plow. Both highways to Tombstone are closed now. Sheet ice reported in all foothills along with low visibility (we are in the foothills). Snow will stop around 4pm today and temps will drop to 20's.<br />

Great time for me to be sick in bed. Husband is dealing with wet muddy poodles and feeding livestock. Even cooking and grocery shopping (glad he went yesterday !). He got a snow day off work, Ft. Huachuca is closed as is just about everything else in this county.<br />
<br />
Stay tuned. Temps here next week in 70's !<br />

Went thru my extensive stash, found lots of scraps and FQ's to use. Lucky I had an open jelly roll to sort thru and there are two strips of each fabric. That's very handy because long strips in the quilt are longer than WOF. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_-CkNZ2Z6O8/XFdwkG1OiOI/AAAAAAAAFYY/lSo1OVBXPhkRhXd-NmDcjEMxlVVfiKL1QCLcBGAs/s1600/my%2Bgypsy%2Bwife%2Bfabrics%2B%25231.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="360" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_-CkNZ2Z6O8/XFdwkG1OiOI/AAAAAAAAFYY/lSo1OVBXPhkRhXd-NmDcjEMxlVVfiKL1QCLcBGAs/s640/my%2Bgypsy%2Bwife%2Bfabrics%2B%25231.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
I want a few more purples so will stop into Hobby Lobby for those, nothing else needed. My yardage stash has plenty to cut from, it was nice not to need a major fabric purchase. I may sew two of these, we have a month to finish each section. With all the upcoming sweat and tears to figure out this quilt, might as well finish more than one.<br />

I have my booklet pattern thingy. Found one of the last copies at Fabric Party- Etsy shop a few weeks ago (copies are re-ordered and due in Feb. 4th). So many places sold out, even Amazon, twice now.<br />
Apparently many quilters have a love-hate for the Gypsy Wife pattern. There were mistakes in the pattern besides not much direction given in the booklet (easy to find corrections for first edition now). I saw the quilt myself and always wanted to attempt putting it together. But, always kinda knew it would be a disaster, never finished.<br />
So, I've joined the FB group, day one starts Feb 2nd, today. We are working one section at a time, and a whole month for each section. There will be tutorials and answered questions. <br />
I'll be posting a photo of my fabrics soon and hope to start cutting once a few more decisions are made.<br />
Anyone interested in the sew-along, join up on Face Book (Gypsy Wife Sew Along 2019)! You will need a pattern to join or proof that it's been ordered (photo of receipt). And if you are curious about this quilt, just google or go to Pinterest, there are lots of beautiful finished Gypsy Wife quilt photo's out there.<br />
