I Joined the Friday Night Sew-In!

Friday Night sew-in was almost a bust for me. It's been a long week, besides being tired I did not have the fabric cut for quilt project I wanted to work on. At 8pm I decided to grab the quilt kit from Quilts for Kids. All pieces were pre-cut so it was easy to get started on. So glad it had arrived in mail on Friday!

The 4-patches were easy to start with pre-cut strips, I sewed them up in a jiffy. Once finished they looked great on the design board with focus fabrics. Rows were then sewn and you can see how cute this kit is going to be.

Anyone interested in sewing for Quilts For Kids, here is a link-

They will send you a pre-cut quilt with everything except batting. I'm going to send them back a quilt from my stash along with this finished kit.

  3. I love your fabrics! They always send the same pattern (I asked lol), and they're always SUPER quick to put together. I've got another top left to do for them as well...someone else in blogland (sorry, I forget who) had the brilliant idea to order a few at a time (I used the comments section) so it'll save on postage for both you and QFK. My great discovery this weekend is that the amount of backing they send has enough left over to use for binding...duh! I didn't even think of that on the first one I did!

The best part of QFK is thinking up names for the quilts...what's yours called?

  4. Oh, also...I've found that I end up with a couple (2-3 depending on if I cut it right...sigh) of 4-squares leftover at the end of each one. I'm going to collect those and use them in one big mishmash 4-square quilt eventually. If you don't plan on using your leftovers, I'll happily take them off your hands! :-)

  5. Kat, thank you for the info about ordering extra kits at one time. I was also wondering if they had different patterns. Your idea of saving the extra 4-patches for another quilt is a good one! I'll use mine to mix with eye-spy novelty squares. Maybe QFK could ask for extra (unused) 4-patches back. Would not take long to have a bunch for new quilts. QFK sure has turned out to be a fun project for me. I have stash fabrics ready for two more quilts.
